How to Run This Drill
  1. 1
Start on a grass area. Players practice sitting down with one leg tucked under (figure-4 position).
  2. 2
Once the form is right, jog 5 steps and slide into the figure-4 on the grass.
  3. 3
Progress to a base on the grass — jog and slide into the base.
  4. 4
Pop-up slide: after sliding, use momentum to pop up onto both feet, ready to advance.
  5. 5
5 slides per leg (alternate which leg tucks under).
Equipment Needed
  • Bases
  • Grassy area
  • Sliding shorts (optional)
Coaching Tips
  • Start slow — walking speed slides on soft grass to build confidence.
  • Hands up! Never slide with hands down — that's how fingers get jammed or broken.
  • Tuck the chin. Look at your belt buckle as you go down.
