Backhand / Forehand Cone Drill

Players shuffle to cones and field balls hit to their backhand and forehand sides.

How to Run This Drill

    Set two cones 10 feet apart.
  2. 2
    Player starts between the cones.
  3. 3
    Coach hits/rolls a ball to one side. Player shuffles, fields, throws to first.
  4. 4
    Player resets to center. Repeat to the other side.
  5. 5
    8 reps per player.
Equipment Needed
  • Baseballs
  • Gloves
  • Cones
  • Bat (for fungo)
Coaching Tips
  • Stay low — don't stand up to shuffle.
  • Backhand: glove-side foot leads, reach across.
  • Forehand: open up the hips, stay through the ball.
