How to Run This Drill
  1. 1
    Place players at overlapping positions (e.g., SS + LF, 2B + RF, P + C).
  2. 2
Coach pops up balls into the 'gray areas' between players.
  3. 3
Players must communicate: call 'MINE MINE MINE' or 'YOU YOU YOU.'
  4. 4
The priority player (outfielder over infielder, SS over 2B, catcher over pitcher on bunts) takes charge.
  5. 5
5 reps per pair, then rotate.
Equipment Needed
  • Baseballs
  • Gloves
  • Bat (for fungo)
Coaching Tips
  • Teach the priority system: outfielder has priority over infielder, shortstop over second baseman.
  • Call it THREE times — one call isn't enough in game noise.
  • If nobody calls it, both stop. If someone calls it, the other peels off.
