How to Run This Drill
  1. 1
Player starts at third base or pitcher's mound.
  2. 2
Coach rolls a slow ball toward the player.
  3. 3
Player charges, picks up the ball bare-handed (or glove-to-hand on faster rollers), and throws to first in one motion.
  4. 4
Emphasize staying low, fielding outside the glove foot, and throwing on the run.
  5. 5
    8 reps per player.

Coaching Tips
  • Field the ball to the glove-hand side of the body so the throw is natural.
  • Get low — butt down, back flat. Don't bend at the waist.
  • This is a do-or-die play — commit to it. No half-efforts.
